Part 6.

The same faded old man stood with the other shadow on a fragment of land.
The fragment was one of thousands that circled at different rates at different
heights the air here was thin but held water vapour. Unicorns grazed on the
grass covered floating shards of land. There were many thousands of them they
seemed to move like flocks of giant birds. A start would send a whole white
patch in to the sky at once. The animals grace spoke of a light agile body
under the feathered hide. "These creatures are at the top of evolution it
would seem, they think and can communicate thousands of ideas at once through
a sound network between each pack and driven they can move as we do though
dimension and are drawn to the life on a planet like a beacon. Almost a billion
years of evolution, I have been back to look at the start of these winged
steeds. They have moved though every planet and their seed in every story
of almost any culture in the universe. They seem to fear electronic build
up and you never seem to find them on a developed planet. A myth creature."
    The old man paused.
Somewhere off in the distance a green giant lizard like creature snaked through
the air. Bat like wings folded back against its red-scaled body. The snake
like grace held power and fast reflexes. The unicorns flustered by this fluid
movement all took to the air at once. The younger man looked across as the
sun died in seconds below the horizon. On a planet this size a sunset would
take seconds the colours in the sky reflected off of the wings silvery white
feathers and horns of a thousand unicorns flying from an age-old predator.
There was a lesion here it just escaped him for a moment. All this just watching
was becoming a bore, did he have to make a judgment about what to do here.
There was a key part of a problem. Which way to turn the energy was not endless
and there is nothing was going to stop something happening. Humans were not
alone so they just had not found out yet. Wait till they discovered the limitless
number of inhabitable planets with in a three years distance, that would fragment
the population. The upper fragments of land bended with the stars and they
    both faded away again.
